Great British Chefs Announces "Cooking With Kids" Campaign in Association With Tesco
LONDON, March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Great British Chefs (GBC), the award-winning recipe site, is launching a "Cooking with Kids" campaign in association with Tesco to encourage parents to get their kids cooking, using exclusive new recipes, cookery guidelines, virtual masterclasses, chefs Q&A's, instructional videos and a mobile app for the iPhone and iPad.
Over 100 new recipes from over 20 of Britain's greatest chefs, including Marcus Wareing and Nathan Outlaw, will encourage children to make delicious food from scratch with their parents. These will be available from early March in time for Mother's Day and Easter on http://www.greatbritishchefs.com and http://realfood.tesco.com.
A free iPhone/iPad app ("Kids Recipes"), building on the three previous award winning apps from Great British Chefs, will launch in April and will include additional exclusive content.
Aimed at children aged five to 12 these recipes will be a take on old favourites or will provide little twists that inspire. Recipes include a fabulous Rice Krispie Fish Fingers with tangy mayo, Spaghetti and meatballs with mini garlic bites, Crunchy cereal bars, mini curried Shepherd's pie, Rarebit Soldiers and Speckled chocolate cornflakes.
Marcus Wareing, one of the chefs involved, said, "For me, cooking is one of the most important life skills, teaching you provenance, nutrition, organisation, budgeting and timekeeping. Getting my children involved in the cooking process means they are so much more enthusiastic about trying new foods in the dishes they've created. That's why I've developed a selection of innovative recipes for children to cook that use different ingredients and varying technical skills for Great British Chefs."
As a gift to your child that keeps on giving, cooking has both short and long term benefits. These include a positive impact on eating habits, spending quality time with family, building self-confidence, developing numeracy skills and of course it's great fun.
With Britain in the grip of an obesity epidemic, parents who want their children to grow up to be healthy adults should give them and apron and let them cook with Great British Chefs.
The Cooking with Kids initiative launches on March 7th and the Great British Chefs Kids Recipes App is available for free for the iPad and iPhone from the end of April.
