Green Beetz Announces the 4th Annual Green Beetz Day

NEW YORK, July 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The 4^th Annual Green Beetz Day was held on Saturday, July 28 in East Hampton. The event supports Green Beetz' mission to empower students to understand how food impacts the environment, their bodies and the world around them, and expand outreach to NYC elementary and middle-schoolers. Green Beetz Day is a unique family-friendly afternoon which includes field games, a healthy gourmet lunch, cooking activities, and eco-friendly arts and crafting activities.  The event was emceed by CNN anchor Don Lemon and all activations were designed to be fun and engaging and amplify the values of the Green Beetz classroom programs.

This year, Green Beetz launched a partnership with Alex and Ani to benefit Green Beetz and showcase its mission. Alex and Ani designed a fun and unique Avocado Charm and Avocado Necklace. The purchase of one Avocado Charm will equate to the cost of a full program to a student for an academic year and the purchase of one Avocado Necklace will amount to the cost of a full program for two students for an academic year. With Alex and Ani donating 20% of the purchase price to Green Beetz, this partnership can significantly affect the growth of the Green Beetz program as it plans to scale up quickly by doubling the number of classrooms reached in the 2018-19 fiscal year.

An intimate crowd of 250 people will attend Green Beetz Day, particularly Hamptons families, celebrities, and influencers. Past notable names have included Dorothea and Jon Bon Jovi, Cristina Cuomo, Angelique and Dow Famulak, Desiree Gruber and Kyle MacLachlan, Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann, Katie Lee, Crystal McCrary, Dr. Holly Phillips, Molly Sims and Scott Stuber, and Rachel Zoe.

About Green Beetz

Green Beetz is a non-profit with the mission to empower middle schoolers to navigate the complex issues surrounding food in the 21st century. The organization is located in New York and has been operating in NYC public and charter schools for three years – in 2017-2018, Green Beetz was delivered in 59 classrooms and four YMCA summer camps, reaching over 2,000 students.
