PASADENA, Calif., April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The major green government conference, the 2014 Green California Summit, will take place to the Sacramento Convention Center from April 8-9. Now in its eighth year, this unique Summit focuses on public sector sustainability.
The summit is developed with an advisory board composed of leaders from state and local government and the private sector chaired by CalEPA Secretary Matt Rodriquez, Government Operations Secretary Marybel Batjer and Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency Secretary Anna Caballero.
The Summit will feature keynote speakers Anne Simpson, Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Global Governance for CalPERS, and Wade Crowfoot, Deputy Cabinet Secretary, Senior Advisor, Office of Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
Pre-Summit sessions on April 7 will include a daylong workshop on Prop 39 implementation, a half-day fleet workshop hosted by Tom Johnson of 100 Best Fleets, and four half-day sessions addressing changes to CALGreen, the nation's first mandatory green building code, new access requirements and the 2013 revisions to the state energy code.
More than 30 concurrent education sessions will address key issues in green policy and practice, from the state's groundbreaking cap and trade program to water conservation, energy efficiency, electric vehicles and infrastructure and environmentally preferable purchasing. A day-long concurrent session track on April 9, which is being presented by Clean Cities in partnership with CleanWorld, will offer details about the strategies and technologies behind the nation's most successful Farm-to-Fork-to-Fuel program.
The conference includes an Expo with nearly 100 companies offering green products and services, from lighting solutions and pollution-eating paint to water conservation technologies, the nation's first electric school bus and solar charging stations for EVs. This year, the Expo will take place on April 8 only, and includes expanded Expo-only hours, drawings and lunch on the floor for paid attendees.
Registration for the Expo and keynote session is free and enables attendees to participate in special events during the Summit, including an Opening Reception from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on April 7 in the Expo hall and the annual Leadership Awards reception from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm on April 8.
