Green Field Energy Services Successfully Commissions Turbine Fracturing Pump On Natural Gas
LAFAYETTE, La., April 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Field Energy Services, Inc. (CUSIP: 39304KAA4), announced today that the Company has commissioned a turbine-driven fracturing pump, powered by natural gas, which flowed in from a pipeline at the Port of West St. Mary in South Louisiana. This demonstration was a showcase of Green Field's commitment to clean turbine and natural gas powered technology.
Rick Fontova, President of Green Field Energy Services, stated, "We are excited to announce that we have successfully commissioned our turbine frac pump on natural gas ahead of schedule. This comes as a response to our customers and industry demand for cleaner air emissions and to more fully utilize the abundant natural gas resource available domestically. These results demonstrate our commitment to clean turbine pumping technology and we are now prepared to move forward with full implementation of natural gas as a viable fuel source."
During commissioning, the fracturing pump was run on a variety of rates and pressures, designed to simulate oilfield fracturing operations. Outstanding performance in rate and horsepower was reached while operating on natural gas and now positions Green Field Energy Services to uniquely offer its customers significant fuel cost savings along with the industry's cleanest air emissions. Green Field conducted two independent emissions tests while operating on two different fuel sources, #2 diesel and natural gas. The outcome was positive in both tests, and preliminary results confirmed that the Green Field turbine fracturing pump surpassed U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Tier IV emissions regulations with each fuel source.
