Grand Prize Money from Scotties Tissues To Support Sustainable Initiatives at School
BURLINGTON, Mass., March 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- After 4 weeks of competitive voting, Scotties, a leader in the tissue industry, is pleased to announce the two grand prize winners of their national Trees Rock® video contest. Taking the top honors in the 3rd-5th grade category are the 3rd grade students from The Oakwood School in Greenville, NC. In the 6th-8th grade category, the winners are the 8th grade students from Our Lady of Victories School in Sayreville, NJ. Each school is receiving $10,000 to be used towards a sustainable project and a celebratory tree planting event is set to take place in the spring.
"We are so pleased to award these wonderful schools the grand prize in the 2014-2015 Scotties Trees Rock video contest," said Scotties Marketing Director, John Robertson. "As a company, we plant three trees for every one we use, and this Trees Rock competition truly aligns with our mission. The voting competition was tough in both categories, but through creativity and savvy marketing they were able to come away with the big win!"
All kids who entered the contest were required to create a video up to 3 minutes long on the importance of trees -- to themselves, their school, and their community. Students were encouraged to be as creative as possible in their entries – for example, by creating a poem, a play, a speech, a song, or a dance. After rigorous scrutiny by a panel of judges, entries from around the country were narrowed down to the 10 best in 3rd – 5th grade and the 10 best in 6th-8th grade the categories of most compelling relative to theme, clarity of message, and creativity.
