Greg Melich, Top-Ranked Retail Analyst, Joins MoffettNathanson, LLC to Lead Retail and Internet Retail Research Business
NEW YORK , June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- MoffettNathanson, LLC announced today that top-ranked Retail analyst Greg Melich will join the firm as a Partner, and as the leader of its newly-established Retail and Internet Retail research effort.
Melich was most recently a Senior Managing Director, and the Head of Evercore ISI's Consumer Research Team. While at ISI, Melich was the #1 Institutional Investor ranked Broadline and Hardline Retail analyst for the last five years.
Prior to ISI, Melich served as the Head of Morgan Stanley's Global Retail Research Team. He began his research career covering Autos at Morgan Stanley, and was Institutional Investor's #1-ranked European Autos analyst for three consecutive years. He has a total of 20 years of experience as a highly-regarded Retail and Autos analyst.
"We are thrilled to partner with Greg. He is uniquely positioned to help his clients navigate the rapidly-changing Retail environment," MoffettNathanson co-founder Craig Moffett said. "By combining coverage of both traditional Retailers, as well as Internet Retailers, Greg provides unique and invaluable insights to investors," added co-founder Michael Nathanson.
"I'm excited to partner with MoffettNathanson, a firm where the team shares my passion for innovation, independence, differentiated research, and client service," Melich said.
MoffettNathanson has been a leader in the development of Wall Street's subscription-based payment model. A combination of regulatory and competitive forces is leading to the rapid dissolution of trading as the primary means of payment for research service. MoffettNathanson's subscription-based payment model allows the firm's clients to manage their research budgets more effectively by paying only for the research they value highly, while separately seeking best-execution trading.
The creation of a Retail and Internet Retail Research offering represents MoffettNathanson's second expansion beyond its Media/Communications Research roots since the firm's founding four years ago. In March, the firm hired veteran Software analyst, Adam Holt, to lead its Software Research effort.
MoffettNathanson plans to partner with other sector-dominant analysts going forward, according to COO and Director of Research, Michael Rietbrock.
