Greyhound And Peter Pan Bus Lines Relocate All Washington, D.C., Service To Union Station
New Location Provides Greater Accessibility to Premium Non-Stop Service with Free Wi-Fi, Leather Seats and Fares as Low as $1
DALLAS, Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Greyhound and Peter Pan Bus Lines today announced that on Wednesday, Sept. 26, all operations will relocate to the historic Union Station. All travel booked for Sept. 26 and after will depart from the new location. The move will provide customers with greater connectivity to other modes of transportation and improved access to Express, the companies' premium non-stop service introduced to Washington, D.C., nearly two years ago.
"Both Greyhound and Union Station are iconic, well-loved portraits of American travel and we are delighted to join this hub of intermodal transportation," said Dave Leach, president and CEO, Greyhound. "We look forward to introducing even more customers to a new, better travel experience — our premium Greyhound Express service — which combines affordable prices with luxurious amenities usually found in more expensive travel."
Leach added, "The integration of Greyhound and Express into Union Station took great leadership and vision. Greyhound wants to particularly thank DOT Secretary Ray LaHood, Deputy Secretary John Porcari, Congressman John Mica and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton for their effective leadership in the successful effort to turn this great transportation hub in our Nation's Capitol into a true intermodal facility."
In celebration of the relocation, Greyhound, Peter Pan and the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation invite the public to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony the day before services launch on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. alongside special guests Deputy Secretary Porcari, Congresswoman Norton and Congressman Mica.
Two premium Express buses will be available immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, allowing passengers to see the modern amenities provided on every Express trip - including free Wi-Fi, power outlets, leather seats, reserved seating and extra legroom. "We are pleased with the move to Union Station due to its convenient location that is easily accessible to our passengers who travel throughout the Northeast. Bus travel has never been more comfortable and customer friendly," said Peter Picknelly, CEO and chairman of Peter Pan Bus Lines.
From Union Station, Express will connect Washington, D.C. customers to 17 markets: Atlanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Fayetteville, Ft. Lauderdale, Hampton, Jacksonville, Miami, New York, Norfolk, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Richmond, Savannah and Tampa.
Express, which has rapidly expanded to more than 70 markets in just two years, provides non-stop service between major cities, originating from hubs including Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Calgary, Alberta. From these hubs and other Express markets, customers can easily connect to an established network of more than 3,800 destinations throughout North America.
