SAN DIEGO, April 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- BIGaVu, LLC, a San Diego, CA start-up, today announced that it will be unveiling prototypes of its IoT focused "smart comfort device" that utilize its proprietary technology in Laguna Niguel, CA during the PEDS2040 Conference, which is being held from January 7th through January 9th.
"The unveiling of prototypes that use our interactive technology at PEDS is a very important milestone for us and reflects our dedication and commitment to be the leader in interactive technology to the healthcare industry, with a current focus in pediatrics. We have created some truly unique prototypes of next generation smart comfort devices that function using a wide range of wireless protocols, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth," according to Dr. Clara Garrison, Director of Health Systems, BIGaVu.
"The smart comfort device we have developed using our technology can engage and communicate with humans, similar to Amazon's Alexa®," says Gary Smith, CEO. Pediatric patients can safely experience unlimited content delivered over the Internet to their smart comfort device. Also, the patient's family, friends and Health Care Providers can use a mobile application to communicate with the patient. The patient can also receive parental approved content delivered at their bedside. In addition, this technology allows a smart comfort device to be controlled remotely by parents and health care providers.
For instance, a mother could send a Voice Message to her child's teddy bear through a cell phone and the teddy bear would actually say her message to the child in the mother's natural voice. The teddy bear can also react in real time to online games, educational software or a BIGaVu enabled DVD. This truly creates an entirely new play experience that brings the virtual interactive world to the physical "smart comfort device" at the child's bedside.
Over eight years ago, BIGaVu recognized the need for a safe IoT communications platform in health care that can improve the physical and psychological well being of patients. BIGaVu identified a need for interactive and intuitive software that can be used by the patient, family and health care providers to keep them connected.
During the last two years, BIGaVu has brought together a team of individuals with diverse backgrounds in technology and medicine to fulfill their mission of Making a Difference for Today's Children.
Their vision for making this difference is to use technology to provide a means by which concerned parties can stay connected to patients that are undergoing treatment. "We are using the latest IoT technologies to bring to the Health Care community a solution that provides communication on a world-wide basis," says Gary Smith, CEO.
BIGaVu has developed Therapies-On-Demand-Delivery (TODD), a turn-key hardware and software platform for networking devices through various digital delivery systems such as the Internet, cable, broadcast and wireless networks currently centered on the pediatric patient.
