GSN Gets In The VOD Game With Vubiquity GSN to Launch VOD Service August 15 Through Exclusive Relationship with Vubiquity
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vubiquity, the largest global provider of multiplatform video services, today announced a deal with GSN to deliver the network's first VOD offering. Launching today, GSN On Demand will feature classic library titles like Minute to Win it, as well as original programming such as The American Bible Challenge.
Under the terms of the industry-wide deal, Vubiquity will provide a full suite of services, including distribution, encoding and metadata management as well as managing multiplatform rights for GSN's on-demand offerings.
"GSN enjoys an audience that is highly engaged – a recent Magid survey showed that our average viewer spends 11 hours a week watching the network – so we've been looking at VOD as a way to extend our reach for some time," said Dale Hopkins, Executive Vice President, Distribution, GSN. "Working with Vubiquity allows us to extend our brand promise so fans can watch at any time, on any device."
Vubiquity manages more than 28,000 hours of content each month, working with more than 340 content providers and over 270 service providers worldwide. The company provides managed services that help both content and service providers to monetize video offerings.
"Quality content drives a high level of satisfaction – and engagement with viewers," said Jim Riley, chief revenue officer, Vubiquity. "GSN – a leader in audience engagement – has already built a strong audience base with its linear programming and interactive gaming offerings. The addition of FOD and TV Everywhere access to content will increase their reach and enhance their value to MVPDs and consumers alike. Vubiquity is thrilled to partner with GSN to extend their reach to new affiliates, new devices and new markets."
