Big Bang recognized as design partner for innovative medical device
ATLANTA, April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Big Bang is pleased to announce that the LuViva® Advanced Cervical Scan, a non-invasive device used to detect cervical disease at the point of care, has been selected as a finalist in the Hospital Devices and Therapeutic Products category of the 17th Annual Medical Device Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition. Selected products excel in the areas of product innovation, design and engineering achievement, end-user benefit, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing and healthcare delivery. Winners will be announced at the 2014 MDEA Ceremony held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in conjunction with the MD&M East event at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
"We are thrilled to be chosen as a finalist for this prominent award," said Devin Moore, partner and design director at Big Bang. "Our primary goal for the device was to create a design that conveys comfort and wellness to the patient and is easy to use by the clinician or doctor. Being recognized by Medical Design and Diagnostic Industry (MD+DI) and the diverse jurors affirms our belief that successful products blend innovative technology with great design and exceptional user and patient experience. We would also like to thank our partner in the development process, Guided Therapeutics of Norcross, Georgia, for their commitment to LuViva."
The MDEA awards program celebrates the achievements of the medical device manufacturers, their suppliers, and the many people behind the scenes—engineers, scientists, designers, and clinicians—who are responsible for the cutting-edge products that are saving lives; improving patient healthcare; and transforming medtech – one innovation at a time.
Gene Cartwright, Chief Executive Officer of Guided Therapeutics states, "The elegant product design, created by Big Bang, reinforces the sophisticated technology that is at the fundamental core of Lu Viva, as well as the benefits it provides to the patient and the overall healthcare system."
