Operation Christmas Child to make the holidays happy for needy children around the world

DALLAS, Nov. 12, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Halek Energy, LLC, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company based in Southlake, Texas, has designated Operation Christmas Child as a beneficiary of Halek Charities, which supports charities and non-profits across the U.S. and overseas.

Employees of Halek Energy this week prepared 50 gift boxes filled with clothing, personal hygiene items, candy and toys for distribution to underprivileged children around the world, in support of Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan's Purse led by Franklin Graham, son of the Rev. Billy Graham.

"Halek Energy employees are rolling up their sleeves to shop for items, pack the boxes and deliver them for distribution to make sure Christmas happens for underprivileged children who would have no Christmas otherwise," said Jason Halek, CEO of Halek Energy.

"Our conference room this week was transformed into a merry assembly line," said Lori Jordan-Rice, Halek's Director of Communications.

"At Halek Energy, we believe it is part of our responsibility to support organizations that help people, and Operation Christmas Child is a great example of a program that directly improves the lives of children," said Halek.

Operation Christmas Child, a program of Samaritan's Purse, is a non-denominational evangelical Christian humanitarian organization that works worldwide to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people suffering from war, poverty, disaster, disease, famine and persecution.

Operation Christmas Child collects shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies, personal items and other gifts for children at the Christmas holidays who would otherwise go without gifts. More than 8 million children received gift boxes last year. More than 130 countries have received boxes since 1993.
