Hallmark Channel Features Dr. David Amron and Patient to Discuss Lipedema Renowned Beverly Hills Dermatologic Surgeon and His Patient Shed Light on Lipedema for the Home and Family TV Series
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. David Amron, elite dermatologic surgeon and liposuction expert of Beverly Hills, CA, was featured on the Hallmark Channel's Home and Family for his unique approach in treating lipedema, a fat storage condition impacting 17 million women nationwide. Lipedema is an often-misdiagnosed disease with no proven cure other than tumescent lymphatic sparing liposuction – a procedure most surgeons refuse to perform.
The segment, which focused on Dr. Amron's uniquely developed approach in treating lipedema, also discussed the struggles of living with the disease in an interview with Jasna Tursic, one of Dr. Amron's most recent lipedema patients to complete surgery. Tursic and her surgeon, Dr. Amron, joined the hosts and guests of Home and Family at NBC Universal Studios to in Hollywood, CA, to educate viewers on treating the little-known condition.
"I was misdiagnosed for more than a decade and had five vein surgeries…they were all unnecessary because I never had lymphedema, I had lipedema," said Jasna Tursic, who recently completed liposuction with Dr. Amron to treat her lipedema. "At the time I was diagnosed, it was very bad…they didn't have a solution for me."
Dr. Amron's advanced solution uses a combination of approaches and techniques during liposuction treatment, specifically customized for each patient to deliver the best results.
"Liposuction is really the only cure for [lipedema], you are permanently removing that fat tissue there that's proliferated," Dr. Amron explained. "Most doctors don't know of it, haven't heard of it…There's a lot we're starting to understand more and more about this condition."
No amount of diet and exercise can prevent or cure lipedema, and with time the condition progressively worsens, and often leads to debilitation.
"I saw probably 20 plastic surgeons before Dr. Amron, and nobody would perform any surgery, I was told that they don't want to touch me," Tursic said. "Dr. Amron really was my last hope, and he gave me my life back."
