Halscott Megaro PA scholarship competition draws top students in the Nation
ORLANDO, Fla., June 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to further its support of higher learning and belief in giving back to the community, Halscott Megaro PA, one of Florida's most prestigious criminal defense law groups, announced that they will offer a $2000 "Relationship between Art and Law" scholarship beginning in 2017, to support the continued education of deserving college and college-bound students across the country. The scholarship is unique, in the fact that, instead of requiring a written essay, applicants are asked to express their creativity by submitting a visual illustration of a legal concept or commentary on the law. Acceptable submissions would include, but are not limited to, drawings, images, photographs or other visual illustrations. This visual essay contest is open to any student that is currently enrolled in an accredited school, as well as, high school seniors that will be graduating in 2016.
"We believe Halscott Megaro PA can serve as a demonstration model to the nation on how to leverage private dollars to make a college scholarship available to every student, and to bulldoze the predictable barriers that prevent students and their families from seizing that opportunity. Our team strongly believes in the education of current and future scholars, as well as, giving back to the community. As lawyers, we have placed immense value into our own education and would like to help others strive to achieve valuable education, as well. We are proud to have the opportunity to assist aspiring students who are looking to further their education," said Patrick M. Megaro, Appellate Attorney and Senior Partner.
Megaro went on to say, "The say that a picture is worth a thousand words and that is as true in law as it is in anything else. Complex issues of law cannot always be best described with words and we are inviting students from across the nation to showcase their creativity while drawing attention to this truth."
Halscott Megaro's scholarship is available on a competitive basis with a submission deadline of January 1, 2017. Besides being currently enrolled or a graduating senior, the applicant must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Along with their visual essay, applicants must submit an unofficial transcript from their current college or recent school and be currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a college or university for the 2017-2018 school year.
