ATLANTA, Jan. 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Atlanta's Top Talent are more open than ever to entertaining new career opportunities, and the Handler & Associates 2017 Top Talent Confidence Index® reveals what's driving the trend and other insights into the local executive talent pool.
The Index shows that 85 percent of respondents are open to making a career move. Of those, 59 percent expect to change companies within one-to-two years and 32 percent within three-to-five years. In other words, only 15 percent expect to stay put.
Bureaucracy, the antithesis of innovation, is what drives Top Talent quickest to the exit, followed closely by cost-cutting vs. growth initiatives. The third most cited reason for leaving is to continue career progression that's been stalled for reasons beyond their control.
Top Talent are natural innovators who thrive on getting things done and working for industry leaders. As the core driver of organizational growth, performance and valuation, innovation is the hallmark of today's industry leaders.
Based on the Index, a 1-question litmus test to predict the effectiveness of an organization's top talent strategy is: "Does Top Talent perceive the company as leaning more towards bureaucracy or more towards innovation?"
Executives partner with search consultants to identify their next career move for three reasons: First, because they're highly engaged and time-crunched; second, because they're not discontent enough to be pushed into a full scale job search; and finally, because reaching out to their network risks alerting their employer.
The Index also shed light on local companies' hiring plans: Nearly half of survey respondents said that their companies are holding steady (49.3%), while 37.3% are hiring and 13.3% are downsizing.
