CHICAGO, March 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On Monday, March 7, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., George-The-Salon, located at 23 W. Hubbard, Chicago, IL (www.georgethesalon.com ), will host a fundraiser benefiting the On Your Feet Foundation www.oyff.org (OYFF). A $100.00 donation to OYFF will provide contributors with a salon service of their choice from the salon's top hairstylists and massage therapists. All proceeds will go to OYFF in hopes to raise awareness and funds needed to provide personal support to birthparents to help them get "back on their feet". OYFF focuses on helping birthparents build a better life by giving them the tools they need through case management and coaching, monetary grants and through the creation of a community of other birthparents. Representatives from OYFF and several birthmothers will be on hand to discuss their stories.
The OYFF, which gained recognition on MTV's Teen Mom, helped the show's cast member, Catelynn Lowell, with her life changing decision to give up her baby up for adoption. A crew from MTV came to the charity's Birthmother retreat hosted by the foundation to film for their documentary series, "Teen Mom." Birthmother Catelynn Lowell, (who was also followed on MTV's "16 & Pregnant,") attended the retreat as a participant.
"In keeping with our belief that adoption education is essential, our retreat programs provide the hope that this will educate and enlighten more people about who birthparents really are and why choosing adoption for your child is a plan you can be proud of," explains birthmother and Board Member Jen Pedley.
