WARWICK, R.I., Dec. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, along with iconic character MR. POTATO HEAD (Hasbro, Inc.) and the Duracell Rapid Responder Truck are teaming up today to provide Christmas gifts – toys, games and batteries – to children in need. This special event, hosted by Procter & Gamble and Hasbro, is set to take place at Toys"R"Us Warwick, and members of the community are encouraged to participate.
"The toys and batteries we collect today will be much-welcomed gifts on Christmas day to less fortunate children right here in the community," said Win Sakdinan, Duracell Communications Director. "We hope to inspire some holiday cheer to donate a new, unwrapped toy."
Participants will have the opportunity to meet the MR. POTATO HEAD character, as well as Geoffrey the Giraffe, and watch as hundreds of toys and batteries are loaded into the Toys for Tots truck.
"During this busy holiday season, we encourage parents and gift-givers to spread some holiday cheer for children in need," said Bill Grein, Vice President Marketing and Development, Toys for Tots Foundation.
"We are happy to team up with our friends at Duracell and Toys"R"Us to support one of our longtime philanthropic partners, Toys for Tots," said Karen Davis, Hasbro's vice president of community relations. "The Marines need all of our help to ensure kids in need have a special gift under the tree this holiday season."
The event begins at 10 am on December 13 at the Toys"R"Us Warwick, located at 375 East Ave. in Warwick.
As the largest retail partner in the history of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Toys"R"Us has raised over $31.6 million and collected more than 3.75 million toys since the partnership began in 2004.
