CHARLOTTE, N.C. and AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Oct. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Peak 10 + ViaWest today announced that its Brookwood data center in Hillsboro, Ore. was selected by Hawaiki Submarine Cable as its US point of presence. The cable will stretch more than 14,000 km across the Pacific Ocean and will be the first carrier-neutral, low-latency, fiber optic connection between the continental U.S., Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and American Samoa, carrying up to 43 Terabits per second.

Peak 10 + ViaWest customers will have direct access to the Hawaiki cable using a simple cross connect. Also, the cable will provide access to international telecom carriers. These benefits will be available to customers in any of the 40 Peak 10 + ViaWest data centers across the country, leveraging the company's 100 Gigabit network backbone. In addition, customers in other Hillsboro-area data centers may access the Hawaiki cable via metro cross-connects on the Coastcom Hillsboro Data Center Fiber Ring.
