HBX, Harvard Business School's Online Education Initiative, Announces Agreement with Amherst College

BOSTON, April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HBX, Harvard Business School's online digital education initiative, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Amherst College to provide additional benefits for Amherst students participating in the Credential of Readiness (CORe) program. This is the first of several similar agreements with other colleges and universities that HBX expects to announce in the coming weeks.  

CORe is an 11-week online program created for students to learn the fundamentals of business on a highly engaging and interactive platform designed by Harvard Business School faculty. HBX CORe was first offered in summer 2014.  It has since been offered to three more cohorts. The next program is scheduled to begin on June 3, 2015.

The agreement with Amherst College aims to increase access to HBX CORe for its students. As part of the agreement, HBX will reserve seats in upcoming cohorts for Amherst undergraduates.  With the students' permission, Amherst College will verify their financial need information to enable HBX to award additional financial aid to those with need, thereby making HBX CORe more financially accessible for Amherst students. A similar arrangement has been in place for Harvard College students since last summer.
