Head of Construction Firm Wins 'Minority Small Business Person of the Year' for Region 1

HUDSON, Mass., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Janet B. Ceddia, president of Hudson, MA-based Security Construction Services Inc. has been selected to receive the Regional Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award.  She is among a select group of highly successful small business owners chosen for this prestigious award, given annually by the US Small Business Administration in collaboration with the US Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency.    

With Ceddia as president, Security Construction Services has more than tripled its workforce and increased sales 800% since its inception in 2002.   Despite the economic down-turn of the past few years, Security Construction Services continued to experience exponential growth in its sales and expects to earn roughly $20 million in revenue from contract awards for fiscal year 2010.  The Company now has 45 employees and is considered a leader in managing construction projects for federal agencies and military installations across the Northeast.

Security Construction Services manages a broad range of construction projects including interior and exterior renovations; roadway and site work construction; fire alarm and fire suppression installs; elevator upgrades; building and landscape maintenance and Overhead Door service work.  The company also boasts a fence division that specializes in perimeter security, anti-terrorist force protection fencing, intrusion barriers and access control systems.  Security Construction Services has completed successful contracts with the US Navy, US Air Force, US Army Core of Engineers, US Army Reserve, US Coast Guard, DOT, Veterans Administration, National Park Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, and numerous private companies as well as local municipalities.

Ceddia will be honored with other winners during the Annual National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Conference, being held this year from August 25 – 27, 2010 in Washington, DC. Events will include a Black Tie Gala as well as a reception at the White House.
