Health Care Service Corporation Launches Healthy Family, A New App To Help Manage Preventive Care Services

CHICAGO, July 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC), operator of Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, has launched Healthy Family, a free family health manager app that provides an easy, on-the-go way to manage and track important health screenings, such as flu shots and vaccinations, and measure progress towards health and wellness goals.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, ensuring that children of all ages receive vaccinations on time is one of the most important steps for their long-term health and wellness. With the Healthy Family app, families can try to better manage their health by receiving reminders for important preventive health screenings such as childhood vaccinations (MMR, HepA, HepB, Polio), annual physicals, mammograms, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings.

Once a family member's profile is created, Healthy Family will provide a list of recommended health screenings to discuss with their physician. Members can also input notes to discuss with the doctor as well as set reminders for recommended vaccinations, such as the flu shot. Additional features include:

• Input height and current weight to track BMI
• Input historical medical and test information to track progress towards health goals
• View educational information on preventive care and testing needs
• English and Spanish content available
