Hearing Speech and Deafness Center (HSDC) Names Lindsay Klarman as Executive Director
SEATTLE, Sept. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hearing Speech and Deafness Center (HSDC) today announced the appointment of a respected leader in the field of speech and hearing sciences, Lindsay Klarman as executive director. In her role, Klarman will be responsible for furthering the non-profit's mission of ensuring a future which hearing status and speech challenges do not impact one's ability to communicate or reach life goals.
Klarman, selected as part of a national search, brings more than 15 years of relevant experience and non-profit leadership expertise to HSDC. She will lead the Western-Washington based organization and serve as a champion to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or with communication barriers, while ensuring HSDC continues to provide valuable services to those in need.

Prior to joining HSDC, Klarman spent two years focusing on outreach and education at the Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences (I-LABS), and the previous 13 years as a researcher, in developmental cognitive science and speech and hearing sciences at the University of Washington.
Klarman holds a Master in Executive Non-Profit Leadership from Seattle University, a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington, and a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Science from the University of California San Diego. She is a certified sign language interpreter and a member of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Klarman also serves on the boards of Hillel UW and Deaf Spotlight, and is very active in the Seattle community.
