AUBURN HILLS, Mich., March 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Chrysler Group LLC announced today the opening of Helfman FIAT in Houston, Texas.
Helfman FIAT joins 142 open FIAT studios in 39 states across the U.S. This striking new FIAT studio, located at 7720 Katy Freeway in Houston, was built from the ground up just yards away from Helfman Dodge Chrysler Jeep® Ram and a stone's throw from IKEA.
Helfman FIAT celebrates its grand opening from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight with 300 invited guests and dignitaries. Italian food will be provided by the local Ciro's Italian Grill.
Helfman FIAT is the 12th FIAT studio to open in the state of Texas since the Fiat 500 went on sale a year ago.
"We welcome Helfman FIAT to our growing family of FIAT studios in the United States," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of FIAT Brand North America. "The state of Texas is a key market for the continued growth of the FIAT brand. It is Fiat's third-highest volume state, so we are thrilled to expand our footprint in the Lone Star state."
Helfman FIAT has the best location for a dealership – right across from the Katy Freeway (I-10) where more than 300,000 vehicles pass the dealership daily, said Steven Wolf, dealer principal.
Helfman FIAT opened its doors on Feb. 15 to customers that desire the Italian design, attractive price, and fuel efficiency that the Fiat 500 and Fiat 500 Cabrio offer, Wolf said. His customers are particularly interested in the fuel economy as gas prices continue to soar across the country.
Wolf, a native Texan who drove pickup trucks and full-size sedans, initially had his reservations about the Fiat 500.
"I'll be honest, I was a bit concerned about the reception it would get here in Texas," Wolf admits. "But I was completely wrong. I am pleasantly surprised. We're getting a different customer than who we serve in our Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram store. We're on track to sell 40 Fiat 500s in March."
About the FIAT Brand
The FIAT brand stands for discovery through passionate self-expression. It encourages people to be in charge of their lives, live confidently and celebrate the smallest of things with infectious excitement. That philosophy is embodied by the North American introduction of the iconic Fiat 500 or Cinquecento – a small car that lives big. Italian at heart and rooted in a rich heritage, the 500 is synonymous with modern simple design blending form, function and a pride of ownership that is genuine.
