Henry County, Georgia Approves Three-Year Contract for Smartphone Body Cameras; Solution to be Part of Super Bowl Security

MCDONOUGH, Ga., Jan. 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved to extend the Visual Labs Smartphone Body Camera contract for a three-year period for the Henry County Police Department. The action came at the January 8, 2019 Commission meeting. The Visual Labs solution uses fully-functioning Android smartphones as the recording device.

Approximately a year ago, the Board approved the purchase of 180 cellular smartphones equipped with Visual Labs body camera software. Since its inception, the body cameras have been a reliable tool for Henry County public safety.

"I can tell you it has been a great success. Our goals were to increase transparency within the police department and to improve training and services," said Henry County Police Captain Randall McGlamery. "I can tell you we have achieved both of those goals and with those achievements in mind, we want to extend this contract for three more years."

Separately, Visual Labs announced that its smartphone body camera solution will be deployed with private security contractors in and around Mercedes-Benz Stadium as part of the overall security for the Super Bowl. The solution was also deployed during last year's Super Bowl in Minneapolis.
