NEW YORK, July 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- New York City's High-WaterMark Clothing launched with a campaign on Kickstarter creating a tribute jacket to the late Hunter S. Thompson. Thompson, the inventor of Gonzo Journalism, became a cult hero for his outrageous writing and outspoken drug use. Most know Thompson for inspiring the role of Raoul Duke played by Johnny Depp in the Terry Gilliam film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
The Kickstarter already has over 100 backers and has raised over $25,000 with 7 days left in its campaign with a funding goal of $30,000. The jacket costs $300 on Kickstarter while the campaign is still live. Fifty Early Bird Jackets sold for $250 but quickly sold out after the campaign launched.
The tribute jacket High-WaterMark Clothing created is called "The Journalist" and the campaign launched with the hopes there is a strong interest from Thompson's cult followers.
The High-WaterMark Clothing team has been working for years on creating this first signature jacket. Manufactured in New York with canvas sourced from the United States, High-WaterMark Clothing stands to create high quality clothing with impeccable design.
About High-WaterMark Clothing
High-WaterMark Clothing was founded on one simple idea: Make a tribute jacket to honor the late Hunter S. Thompson for his fans to wear in support around the world.
Founder, Tom Anderson, says, "I started High-WaterMark Clothing out of my pure love and respect for Hunter S. Thompson and his writing. My friends and I had been looking for a jacket that resembled his look and style for years without finding anything and I finally said I'm going to make my own version as a tribute. This was years before crowdfunding started and I found myself talking to manufacturers about needing hundreds of orders just to get started and I didn't have the capital to launch a project like this."
Why on Kickstarter?
Crowdfunding has become an amazing place for entrepreneurs to launch products and find like-minded consumers who are interested in their product. Because of the upfront costs in making this jacket without Kickstarter the team would have needed to raise a tremendous amount of outside capital without knowing a general level of interest from our consumers.
