24 Feb, 2016, 15:14 ET from Zero Motorcycles

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Zero Motorcycles, the global leader in the electric motorcycle industry, today announced a partnership with the American Motorcyclist Association to fuel excitement and expand membership in the world's largest motorcycling organization. The AMA Club 1924 and Zero Motorcycles will give a new Zero DSR to one lucky winner selected from sweepstake participants entering at select events.

"We see this as continued investment in the sport we all love," said Scot Harden, Zero Motorcycles Vice President of Global Marketing. "The AMA advocates for riders' interests at all levels, and this is a great way to introduce both new and existing members to the thrill of electric motorcycles."

"The Zero DSR is a great motorcycle that will provide years of enjoyment for the winner, both on the road and on the trail," said Jeff Massey, AMA vice president of operations. "We are glad to be able to partner with Zero Motorcycles on this sweepstakes."

The Zero DSR is an amped-up version of the Zero DS dual sport, delivering 56 percent more torque and 25 percent more power. The Zero DSR boasts 106 ft-lb of torque on demand and a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds. Its custom-tuned Showa suspension and Bosch ABS make it equally at home on pavement or dirt.

Throughout 2016, the AMA will be collaborating with partners to enhance members' experience at AMA Club 1924 locations, where anyone 18 or older can enter the sweepstakes. AMA Club 1924, named in honor of the AMA's founding year, is the association's presence at these events, celebrating the fun of motorcycling, connecting with riders and looking back on the history of motorcycling in America.

The AMA Club 1924 schedule includes:

AMA members come from all walks of life, and they navigate many different routes on their journey to the same destination: freedom on two wheels. As the world's largest motorcycling organization, the AMA advocates for motorcyclists' interests in the halls of local, state and federal government, the committees of international governing organizations, and the court of public opinion.
