MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lightbridge Corporation (NASDAQ: LTBR), a leading innovator of next generation nuclear fuel designs and provider of nuclear energy consulting services to commercial and governmental organizations, today announced that His Excellency Alexis Lautenberg has joined the Company's Strategic Advisory Council. Mr. Lautenberg will advise Lightbridge management on nuclear diplomacy and policy issues. Mr. Lautenberg's appointment expands the Company's Strategic Advisory Council to 12 members.

Mr. Lautenberg brings to Lightbridge a long history of experience in European affairs and trade policy. He is currently a Senior Policy Advisor to the Brussels office of Steptoe & Johnson, LLP, where he advises the firm's clients based on his in-depth knowledge of the workings of the European Union and its Member States. Prior to this, Mr. Lautenberg spent more than 35 years with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, where in 1986 he was named Head of the Economic and Finance Directorate. He also served as the Swiss Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2004 to 2010. Prior to these positions, he served as the Swiss Ambassador to Italy from 1999 to 2004 and headed the Swiss Mission to the European Union from 1993 to 1999. Mr. Lautenberg was a Member of the Board of the Foundation for Research in International Banking and Finance at California University, Riverside CA, from 1987 to 1994.
