Leaders to Decry U.S. Funding of Abortion in Latin America

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A group of Evangelical and Catholic leaders will take their case to Latinos at a press conference in Boca Raton, FL on Monday, October 22, on the morning of the third presidential debate.  The press conference will be organized by the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles and the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference.

The pastors will take direct aim at President Obama's vocal support for the abortion industry that has targeted minorities, especially Latinos; Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage in its national platform; and the administration's mandate forcing religious organizations to cover contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs.

"In such a close election, Hispanic values voters may very well determine the outcome of the presidential election," said Rev. Samuel Rodriguez , President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference. "Hispanic believers will support the candidate that advances a culture of life and preserves religious liberty."

"As the candidates prepare to debate foreign policy, we must remember that Obama's first act as president was to reverse the 'Mexico City Policy,' allowing federal funding of abortions overseas," said Alfonso Aguilar , Executive Director of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles. "This action is repellent to Latinos here at home, who are seeing the values of their home countries under attack by this administration."
