CREAM RIDGE, N.J., Nov. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- H&M Analytical Services has recently upgraded their portfolio of characterization equipment, specifically in the area of thermal analysis. Already a leader in X-Ray Diffraction services, H&M has upgraded their thermal analysis services with new thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) devices to achieve optimal testing results for our customers to become a more complete analytical testing laboratory.
TGA is a common technique that can identify chemical or physical changes in a material based on weight loss due to temperature changes, such as removal of volatile materials like absorbed water. This is a common methodology to examine the excipients in the pharmaceutical industry. It's a requirement to understand how active Pharma ingredients will thermally react with numerous excipients when combined and TGA provides a relatively quick and easy method to determine this.
DSC is utilized to determine phase transitions and heat capacities within materials. This is a common testing technique for characterizing polymorphic materials to determine phase transitions such as melting points and is a standard test to ID unknown impurities within a material. Both of these methods are very powerful and provide quick results to meet customer needs.
