HMG LLP Law Firm Is Denied Recall Documents By GM
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motors' legal team issued a sur-reply in Federal Court requesting that Texas law firm, Hilliard Munoz Gonzales LLP (HMG) be denied documents GM submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The documents explain details of the defective ignition switch recall. Bob Hilliard, partner at HMG, requested that GM provide the documents prior to HMG's April 11th response to GM's current sur-reply.
GM'S SUR-REPLY PUTS COSTS ABOVE SAVING LIVES
GM's sur-reply states, in part, "…in light of the enormous damage this injunction would impose on GM, this Court should rigorously (deny the injunction)."
THE EPITOME OF ARROGANCE
Hilliard said this in response, "It is the epitome of arrogance to believe that grounding these vehicles will create 'enormous' damages to GM while discounting the 'enormous damage' to tomorrow's victim and the families of those victims."
EMERGENCY "PARK IT NOW" ALERT
Hilliard is leading the call for General Motors to issue an emergency "Park It Now" alert to drivers of GM vehicles with defective ignition switches, and noted that yesterday the NHTSA fined GM for failure to produce all documents related to the recall of these vehicles. These are the same documents GM is attempting to withhold from Hilliard as he pursues the "Park It Now" mandatory injunction in federal court.
