NELSONVILLE, Ohio, Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Hodges University, a private non-profit regionally-accredited institution headquartered in Naples, Florida, has announced a new partnership with Ed Map, Inc. to develop and implement a new course materials strategy.
Noah B. Lamb, the director of student accounts and auxiliary services at Hodges, had become concerned with their previous model for course materials fulfillment. "With the exception of students registered in our self-paced learner programs, we use a student-pay model with a book voucher option that many of our students need to use. Managing the vouchers process can be tedious, and the amount that students were paying for course materials was becoming a major concern. Plus, there's always an emphasis on retention, so I know it's particularly important, given our accelerated terms, that students have their course materials on time," he states. "I started seeking a replacement vendor and Ed Map surpassed all the others being considered," he adds.
"Hodges is very interested in supporting student success and is adopting two of Ed Map's course materials affordability activities," says Ed Map President and COO Kerry S. Pigman. "First, they are adopting our All-In Model™ to assure all students have their correct course materials by the first day of class. With the high level of sell-through this represents, we have introduced them to the appropriate publisher representatives and conversations have started on receiving increased discounts on course materials costs," she adds. "Second, Hodges wants to undertake a systematic digital migration and we will be assisting them with change management activities to increase faculty and student comfort and ability to work effectively with digital materials."
Erica M. Vogt, Hodges Executive Vice President of Administrative Operations, explains, "Hodges has a nontraditional, mature student body. Although students enrolled in our online programs have fewer problems using digital materials, we know that others may find it initially difficult to adjust as we expand the use of digital. To help students during the transition, we are planning to provide students with digital copies, as well as a Print-on-Demand (POD) version of the course materials, if needed. Over time, we know that our students will become more comfortable and confident working with eTexts, making POD versions less desirable." Lamb adds, "We're looking forward to building on Ed Map's publisher relationships and experience helping institutions implement successful digital migrations to refine and implement a course materials strategy that will support our students, our faculty and our institution."
