NEW YORK, Oct. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- This year, the Bordeaux Wine Council held a Holiday Dinner in New York City with the supper club, I Was Really, Very Hungry (http://reallyveryhungry.tumblr.com/about), and Daniel Johnnes - Wine Director of Daniel Boulud's family of restaurants as well as importer of affordable Bordeaux and other French wines through Daniel Johnnes Wines.
Diners enjoyed recipes created by Chef Michael Ciardi and his partners that were a modern twist on holiday foods and ingredients, as well as French traditions, like shrimp and red snapper ceviche (a play on bouillabaisse), paired with a 2012 Saint Glinglin Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux, a white wine imported by Master Sommelier Richard Betts for just $14.99, and Roast Turkey Roulade with Bordelaise Gravy, paired with an expertly balanced wine – a 2009 Chateau Jean Faux, a $28 Bordeaux Superieur.
"This Holiday Dinner demonstrates how versatile Bordeaux wines can be," said Johnnes. "Value Bordeaux can elevate any holiday dinner setting for a crowd with very varied tastes. During this dinner, we paired white, red, and sweet Bordeaux wines with dishes that featured lamb, turkey, seafood, vegetables, and baked goods with ease."
All the wines featured in the Holiday Dinner were from the 2012 and 2013 Today's Bordeaux selection. The Today's Bordeaux program is an exemplar program of the types of affordable Bordeaux wines you can find in the United States.
