DOWNEY, Calif., May 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Honda World Downey, a premier Honda dealership in the Los Angeles area, decided to go halfsies with ASPIRE, an after-school program jointly operated by the city of Downey, to purchase skateboard equipment for local kids in Downey.

Honda World and ASPIRE each chipped in $2,500 for a Park on A Cart System. The system will have ramps and obstacles for skateboarders and bicycle riders. The portable ramp is purchased from Fresh Park, a company that sells its equipment to civic groups, YMCAs and military bases around the world. The ramps and rails can be easily packed up and transported by one or two people and broken down to fit inside a bag.
City officials plan to use the ramps to encourage healthy and active lifestyles among Downey youth. Children will be able to enjoy the skateboard equipment at after-school programs and at city events. Jeffrey Hodge, president of Honda World Downey, made the donation at the City Council meeting two weeks ago. Mayor Roger Brossmer presented the commendation to Hodge for their donation.
