Hope Paige Medical ID Announces National Partnership With JDRF
Fashionable medical ID manufacturer announces national partnership with leading diabetes research organization.
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. and NEW YORK, Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hope Paige Medical ID, leading manufacturer of fashionable medical ID jewelry, has announced a national partnership with JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The partnership agreement is designed to provide medical identification to those with type 1 diabetes through TypeOne Nation Summits, JDRF Ride events and Kids Walks.
"We have partnered with JDRF many times throughout the last 13 years," says Shelly Fisher, CEO of Hope Paige Medical ID. "We are genuinely honored to help support JDRF on a national level developing so many new joint initiatives."
Hope Paige's first medical ID bracelet was designed when a concerned mother approached Shelly after a JDRF Philadelphia meeting. She needed a bracelet for her 16-year-old daughter Kristen, who has type 1 diabetes and refused to wear the old fashioned medical IDs on the market. With Kristen's input and a lot of research on safety, Hope Paige's first fashionable medical ID was developed. That single bracelet blossomed into thousands of styles for all ages.
Individuals with type 1 diabetes may be mistaken for intoxicated, pass out, or have a life threatening reaction if their blood sugar drops too low. Medical identification jewelry alerts first responders to the wearer's condition, ensuring proper treatment and care in an emergency.
"JDRF is excited to partner with Hope Paige Medical ID to ensure people with type 1 diabetes have proper medical identification," said Margo Lucero, vice president, corporate development at JDRF. "Type 1 diabetes is a complicated disease and safeguarding people through easily identifiable bracelets that not only protect them in an emergency medical situation, but also allow them to enjoy what they are wearing is a double benefit."
"JDRF is how we started and for more than a decade Hope Paige has designed styles that help all those who need medical identification to not feel branded by their condition," says Lynn Angstadt, Creative Director.
