During the three-year period measured by the latest Inc. 5000 listing, Host.net significantly increased its customer base for services including colocation, managed security, managed IP voice, and multinational MPLS and IP data transport for applications such as connecting multi-site businesses. The Boca Raton-based firm also added data centers in Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta during the same period, increasing capacity to accommodate rising demand.
More recently, Host.net added Virtual Private Data Center (vPDC) services for businesses that want to outsource their data center operations to a cloud-based virtual platform to reduce costs, decrease their physical server needs, eliminate in-house maintenance responsibilities, and add security features including redundancy.
"Today the lion's share of our growth is being driven by our virtual services business, and for good reason. The vPDC model significantly reduces data center budgets without compromising on performance, security or control," said Host.net CEO Jeffrey Davis. "With analysts predicting that as much as 35% of enterprise data center space will be outsourced by 2015, we expect that most of our growth will continue to be fueled by the competitive advantages of our advanced, multimillion-dollar vPDC platform."
The 2010 Inc. 5000 ranks privately held U.S. companies according to percentage revenue growth from 2006 through 2009. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2006. They also must be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent rather than subsidiaries or divisions of other companies. Minimum revenue must have been $100,000 in 2006 and $2 million in 2009.
