HOUSTON, Aug. 31, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and Comerica Bank, an FHLB Dallas member institution, will present a $4,800 Partnership Grant Program (PGP) check to PowHer Play, Inc. (dba The Chatman Women's Foundation) at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015. The event will take place at the Comerica Bank banking center at 5757 Memorial Drive in Houston, Texas. The media is encouraged to attend.
PowHer Play is a Houston-based organization that empowers women to build strong businesses and pursue educational opportunities to take power in their positions. The organization will use the funds toward its annual PowHer Play event – a one-day interactive workshop that empowers professional women through networking and conversation – and toward its scholarship fund for women in transition.
"I am thankful to Comerica Bank and FHLB Dallas for this opportunity to give back. Women everywhere are building strong businesses, going back to school, and raising their families with little to no help," said Shantera Chatman, founder of the Chatman Women's Foundation. "We are encouraging women to go after all the things they desire, both personally and professionally."
PGP awards provide grants up to $12,000 to community-based organizations (CBOs). The funds may be used for research, organizational capacity-building, grant- and funding-application assistance, or contractual services. Through PGP awards, FHLB Dallas matches a member's contribution to a CBO of $500 up to $4,000 at a 3:1 ratio. The grants are offered via a lottery system once a year through FHLB Dallas members. In 2015, FHLB Dallas awarded $225,000 in PGP funds. For more information, visit fhlb.com.
