HR Expert Laura MacLeod Lends Her Savvy to the World of Politics
Experienced HR Industry Leader Collaborates with Political Contender, Tammie Williams
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y., Nov. 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HR Guru Laura MacLeod is stepping into the political spotlight, collaborating on an exciting campaign with former student, Democratic politician Tammie Williams. A teacher of Group Work at the Silberman School of Social Work Hunter College, CUNY, MacLeod has partnered with Williams, who is currently running for Town Council in Hempstead, New York, District 2. Williams does most of her campaign work independently, receiving help from only 10 to 20 Democratic ticket volunteers. The community organizer is utilizing her education from MacLeod's Group Work class, as well as regular conversation and coaching with MacLeod in order to run her campaign smoothly, with little outside help. MacLeod's knowledge is quite akin to Tammie's cause. With two decades of experience as a union worker under her belt, her expertise inspired her to create "From The Inside Out Project®," with all levels of employment in mind to assist in maintaining a harmonious workplace. She is well versed in inter-personal communications, team building, and problem solving.

"Tammie Williams is using group work techniques, learned from me in class and refreshed in our conversation and coaching, to make strong connections with voters, volunteers, and fellow candidates," states Laura MacLeod founder of 'From The Inside Out Project®'. "We are working together to grow and maintain her use of empathy, community organization, and group work skills to connect to her constituents. This will allow her to work on resolving community issues that affect people in a direct, personal way."
The techniques that MacLeod has coached Williams on include scanning (looking around to take the temperature of the room and people), noting body language, making eye contact, directly connecting to a person's feelings, promoting inclusion by encouraging each group to sit in a circle, and moving around the room to connect. Tammie also offers consistent support and resources to other candidates. MacLeod suggests this tactic due to the fact that it builds cohesion among candidates, demonstrating that they are ultimately seeking to benefit the greater good. Williams has garnered an esteemed reputation among fellow candidates, volunteers, and voters due to the skills that she has obtained from MacLeod's advisement.
