Hundreds Of Life-sized Tetris Pieces Descend Upon Los Angeles Today
Tetris® Brand Brought Together Hundreds of Fans Dressed as Life-Sized Tetris Pieces to Set World Record at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- There was an invasion of human Tetriminos today in downtown Los Angeles. TETRIS®, one of the most recognized and cherished game franchises in the world, now celebrating its 30th anniversary, attempted to set a new world record by assembling the longest continuous line of human Tetriminos (people dressed as the famous game's Tetris pieces). The event took place at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, where a total of 201 participants donned costumes in the shapes of the iconic and colorful Tetris pieces. The world record attempt has been submitted to Guinness World Records for final verification.
Maya Rogers, CEO of Blue Planet Software, the sole agent for the Tetris brand, witnessed history being made at the event. Rogers stated, "When we decided to participate in Comikaze, we knew it would be the perfect opportunity for Tetris fans of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate their affinity for the game, and show the world that Tetris symbolizes how we all fit together."
The Tetris world record event took place at Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo, which is currently being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Halloween weekend, October 31 through November 2. The annual pop culture convention is open to the public, and geared towards fans of comic books, horror, gaming, and sci-fi. This year, it is expected to draw more than 60,000 attendees with its offering of activities, attractions, interactive games, celebrity appearances and panels, contests, and more.
