SAN FRANCISCO, June 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Lennar Urban announced today that its Hunters Point Shipyard Candlestick Point redevelopment project in San Francisco's southeast sector has been awarded the prestigious Gold Nugget Grand Award at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference in San Francisco.
Hunters Point Shipyard Candlestick Point received the award for Best "On the Boards'' Site Plan, competing against U.S. and international entries. IBI Group and RHAA were land planners for the project.

"The entire community deserves praise for this award.''
The Pacific Coast Builders Conference is the building industry's leading conference and trade show. The PCBC's Gold Nugget Awards honor creative achievements in architectural design and land use planning for residential, commercial and industrial projects. Gold Nugget winners share one common denominator: excellence and innovation in addressing complex design/build issues.
More than 400 projects were entered in 50 different categories in the competition. Prizes were handed out at a luncheon Thursday at San Francisco's Moscone Center.
In honoring Hunters Point Shipyard Candlestick Point, the judges said: "This San Francisco project encompasses 777 acres, targeting young professionals working in the city with almost 12,000 mixed units. At full build-out, the project is planned to include: 10,500 homes for sale or rent; 885,000 square feet of retail uses; about 2,650,000 square feet of green office, science and technology, and research and development uses; a 150,000 square foot hotel; a 10,000-seat arena or other public performance facility; a 300-slip marina; either a new stadium for the San Francisco 49ers or up to 2,500,000 square feet of additional green office, science and technology, research and development, and industrial uses if the stadium is not built.
