ID Watchdog Announces Agreement With Avira
Marks Strategic Partnership To Deliver New Early Warning System For Identity Theft
DENVER, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- ID Watchdog Inc. (TSX.V: IDW, OTC: IDWAF), provider of identity monitoring and preservation tools, today announced an agreement with Avira, a leading Internet security specialist providing solutions for enterprise and personal antivirus protection to more than 100 million customers worldwide.
As part of the agreement, ID Watchdog's identity monitoring and preservation tools will be integrated into and distributed with Avira's security products. Once the product integration is complete, Avira customers will have access to free tools that routinely monitor their credit report directly through the Avira application.
"Protecting one's identity online is the next frontier in personal security," said Travis Witteveen, COO Markets & Operations at Avira GmbH. "As a pioneer in the professional and private security field it is important that we remain one-step ahead of those perpetrating crime and this partnership helps us do just that."
A recent survey of its customers conducted by Avira found that an almost equal number of respondents claim no negative information exists about them on the Internet while the other half has no idea if damaging info exists and doesn't keep tabs on their online reputation. With statistics like this as validation, ID Watchdog is seeking out industry leading companies in the personal security space that are looking to combat this problem by adding new services and features to their existing software products.
"Over the past few months, we have partnered with several companies to deliver new services to consumers that will help with defending online identity," said Michael Greene, CEO, ID Watchdog. "The partnership with Avira is another clear endorsement of our vision that the first line of defense in identity theft is information. We will continue to execute against this vision to expand the services and offerings in personal security to help consumers play a more active role in preserving their online identities."
