Identify Academic Strengths and Weaknesses with the Academic Achievement Battery™ (AAB™) Screening Form from PAR
LUTZ, Fla., Oct. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PAR is proud to announce the release of the Academic Achievement Battery™ (AAB™) Screening Form by Melissa A. Messer, MHS. Ideal for measuring basic academic skills, the AAB Screening Form can be used in educational, research, or clinical settings to confidently evaluate achievement in just 30 to 45 minutes.
Results obtained from the AAB can help inform decision making about inclusion in special education programs or other targeted interventions; can be used in placement and/or accommodation decisions; and can help identify individuals with special needs who may qualify for disability or vocational services. The AAB Screening Form is appropriate for large-group screenings in schools or correctional settings.
The AAB Screening Form is made up of four subtests: Letter/Word Reading, Spelling, Mathematical Calculation, and an optional Written Composition subtest. Each of these constructs are part of academic achievement as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Item content was developed using academic standards set by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of English, Common Core, and Reading First.
Unlike other achievement tests, the AAB requires very little training, and detailed or subjective scoring has been kept to a minimum. Normative data are provided for 32 different age groups, and norms for children and adolescents by grade from PreK through Grade 12 are also included.
Data collection for the AAB included more than 200 clinical cases from several groups including learning disability, intellectual developmental disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and speech/language impairment. The AAB has strong positive correlations with other measures of comprehensive achievement including the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test, Third Edition, the Woodcock-Johnson III, and the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, Second Edition. In addition, the AAB Screening Form Composite score correlates strongly with measures of intelligence including the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale, Fourth Edition and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition.
The AAB Screening Form is an excellent tool to evaluate fundamental academic skills during an initial evaluation, during reevaluation, or when working with those referred for learning, behavior, or vocational concerns.
