IFL: National Campaign Slams Governor Malloy For Attacking Native Americans
HARTFORD, Conn., April 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Institute for Liberty (IFL) has launched a national campaign to bring attention to the discriminatory actions of Governor Malloy and the State of Connecticut Department of Banking against Native American tribes throughout the country. A week after calling out Governor Malloy's bigotry against Native Americans, the Institute for Liberty announced a campaign to educate the public on Connecticut's attacks against Native American tribes on the Governor's watch.
Thus far, the NativeKidsFirst campaign has included over 100,000 pieces of direct mail and numerous billboards on expressways in and around the capitol. Further grassroots activities are set to commence shortly, as Governor Malloy continues to ignore the calls for equality and justice.
"Governor Malloy deserves to be called on the carpet for his own bigotry. His administration, through actions by the State Department of Banking, has tested the bounds of its legal authority by attacking the tribal sovereignty of a Northern Oklahoma tribe and reportedly has worked against the interests of tribes in his own state," said IFL President Andrew Langer. "In doing so, the Malloy administration's actions have endangered basic social services for people living on the tribe's reservation including healthcare, education, and housing."
The NativeKidsFirst campaign highlights the discrimination and blatant abuse of power by the State of Connecticut and the impact it will have on Native Americans throughout the country.
