Ilios Sales Grow With New Water-Source High Efficiency Water Heater

WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ilios Inc., a subsidiary of Tecogen^® Inc. (NASDAQ: TGEN) announced today the sale of a water-source gas engine-driven heat pump water heater (HEWH-500-WS) to the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut. Introduced earlier this year, the product heats water at over two times the efficiency of traditional boilers, while providing chilled water as a free by-product.  The Ilios equipment will provide domestic hot water for their 212,000 square-foot Forrest E. Mars Jr. Athletic Center, while producing free chilled water for air-conditioning.

The Ilios high efficiency water heater will be offsetting the current oil boiler plant, cutting their fuel usage to heat the water in half.  The free chilled water will reduce electricity consumed in the existing electric chiller plant.  By producing the heat more efficiently with less fuel and offsetting electricity use, the carbon reduction realized will be dramatic.  In addition to saving money and cutting their carbon footprint, the Ilios product line comes equipped with an industry leading emission-control system. The patented Tecogen® Ultra™ system reduces the criteria pollutants (in particular, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide compounds) to near zero meeting the toughest standards in the country today.
