WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Tecogen Inc. announced today the sale of an Ilios high efficiency water heater to Harbour House Condominium of Miami Beach. The Ilios unit will be providing domestic hot water for the 452 residences adjoining the newly constructed One Bal Harbour luxury condo hotel which is located on the northern tip of Miami Beach.
"We selected the Ilios water heater not only for the monetary savings that the system would generate, but also because it is an environmentally responsible decision," said Allen Scherl, Vice-President of the Condominium Association. "As one of the premier residences on Miami Beach, it is important that we provide our community with sustainable solutions. With this system, we can cut our carbon foot print as well as our energy consumption for heating in half."
The Ilios High Efficiency Water Heater, which can operate on either natural gas or propane, is an excellent alternative to conventional water heating systems. Ideal for locations with a gas demand of at least 4000 therms/month, such as swimming pools, hotels, schools, colleges, hospitals, apartment buildings & recreation centers, the system provides a nominal heating capacity of 500,000 Btu/hour. The Ilios High Efficiency Water Heater is designed to boost heating efficiency, save money, and reduce impact on the environment through reduced pollutant emissions (CO and NOx) as well as CO2.
"From the inception of Ilios, we felt that the south eastern U.S. would be an excellent market for this product," said Robert Panora, President and COO of Tecogen. "Consistent warmer weather ensures that the Ilios unit will be able to maximize peak efficiency year round."
