SHELBYVILLE, Ill., June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Becoming an American citizen is a responsibility.  As a new American citizen Ioan Florea had the chance to give back and help hundreds of artists who lost their studio and materials to Hurricane Sandy. He donated Alkydpro artist paint to New York Foundation for the Arts distributed through NYFA Emergency Relief Fund and to many other organizations.

Growing up in a communist totalitarian society in Transylvania, Romania and migrating to USA, Florea had been part of a revolution, witnessed financial collapse and gone through a long legal immigration process of changing and redefining identity.

Ioan Florea became an American citizen in 2009 during the Lincoln Bicentennial in Springfield Illinois in a special Naturalization Ceremony in the Old State Historic Site.

In his art he explores ideas influenced by his personal immigration experience and concepts of human migration, globalization and the consequences that come with that.

About Alkydpro: Ioan Florea is the inventor of the first professional alkyd oil artist paint made in the USA, a revolutionary artist paint since the discovery of acrylic 60 years ago.

Alkydpro is a professional line of fast dry oil paints and mediums-drying in 20 hours instead months, made with sunflower non-yellowing resin. Alkydpro was noted as one of the best paints worldwide in the extensive research conducted by Suzanne Quillen Lomax, Scientific Research Department, National Gallery of Art "The Application of X-Ray Powder Diffraction to the Analysis of Synthetic Organic Pigments. Part 2: Artists' Paints."

About the artist: He works in central Illinois and Transylvania. His studio in Transylvania is located a few miles from Dracula's birthplace and from Charles, Prince of Wales, summer vacation home.

Recently Florea developed a custom 3D printing transfer technique for his paintings incorporating the newest materials and technologies available bringing the 3D printing revolution to Art.

Upcoming exhibition - June 2013 - May 2015

South Bend Museum of Art and Century Center feature Ioan Florea 3D printing/transfer large scale paintings. Sightlines provides a unique experience for  the roughly 170,000 annual visitors, engaging them in a moment of artistic appreciation or contemplation -- or even perhaps challenging their preconception of "what is art?"
