U-Haul, founded by World War II Navy veteran L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife Anna Mary Carty Shoen, designed and dedicated five vibrant military SuperGraphics to honor the five branches of the military — Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard, and to show our support for the men and women who have served and are still proudly serving in the armed services. U-Haul created the United We Stand SuperGraphic in remembrance of the men, women and children who lost their lives on that tragic day, and to pay tribute to the courageous souls who died trying to save them. The Wounded Warrior Project Soldier Ride SuperGraphic was created and dedicated to the brave men and women who have been injured in conflicts around the world. As part of its ongoing tribute to its military roots, U-Haul prides itself on partnering with military organizations such as Phoenix Veterans Hospital, Vietnam Veterans of America, USO of Metropolitan New York, Marine Corps Marathon, Wounded Warrior Project and Navy Marine Corp Relief Society, to name a few.
U-Haul Team members, family and friends will be passing out American flags and red, white and blue "Support Our Troops" ribbon magnets to the thousands of patriotic veterans and civilians along the parade route.
"For the seventh year in a row, we are privileged to participate in and sponsor this year's Phoenix Veterans Day Parade," stated U-Haul President John "J.T." Taylor. "U-Haul has supported our military personnel since 1945 and has given a high priority to our veterans in our recruiting process. U-Haul simply wants to give back to the veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedom."
U-Haul also is a sponsor of the Thank You for Serving video project headed by the United War Veterans Council. The project involves creating a video along with message boards displaying words of support, love and encouragement to be sent to every military base in the world. During the parade, U-Haul encourages participants and spectators to take the time to sign the Phoenix Thank You for Serving board and send messages of encouragement to those serving overseas. All of these messages will be sent to our troops, to let each of them know how much we appreciate their sacrifices on Veterans Day and every other day.
