In-Store "Passport to Vinho Verde" Promotion Hits Wine Shops in New York, Chicago and the Washington Metropolitan Area to Showcase the Region's Quality and Diversity
Enter Sweepstakes to Win a Trip for Two to the Vinho Verde Region of Portugal
NEW YORK, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Wines of Vinho Verde USA announces its 5th annual "Passport to Vinho Verde" promotion, which will run from May 19th through June 15th at wine shops in New York, Chicago and the Washington Metropolitan Area. Participating retailers will showcase indigenous grapes of the Vinho Verde region and host educational tastings and specials during the four-week promotion.
At the "Passport to Vinho Verde" tastings, shoppers can experience a full range of Vinho Verde styles—from the light, refreshing traditional blends to the more elegant, single grape varietal whites made from Alvarinho and Loureiro to the bright and fruity Espadeiro and Padeiro roses. Vinho Verde wines have balanced acidity and are light in alcohol and calorie content, making them enjoyable on their own or when paired with a fresh summer dish.
"We are excited to see how much this program has grown over the years," said Manuel Pinheiro, Executive President of the Vinho Verde Regional Viticultural Commission. "We see an increased interest among consumers in wines from Vinho Verde and an increased selection of offerings from the region in wine shops and restaurants. We are lucky to have several retail partners that have been with us since the beginning, as well as new shops that come on board each year."
Additionally, starting May 19, 2014, consumers can enter a sweepstakes* to win a trip for two to the Vinho Verde region of Portugal by entering here.
This year's "Passport to Vinho Verde" wine promotion is part of a three-year campaign, underwritten by CVRVV and the IVV, to increase interest and awareness for Vinho Verde wines and the Vinho Verde region of Portugal in the U.S.
