LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Calabasas based Community Recovery Los Angeles (CRLA) is generously embracing the spirit of giving this holiday season by offering 90 day treatment scholarships to all of the subjects of the HBO documentary "Heroin: Cape Cod, USA". The film, which premieres on December 28th takes an unvarnished look at the heroin epidemic sweeping America's small towns and communities, focusing on eight young addicts in idyllic Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
CRLA knows this epidemic well, as they have worked successfully with thousands of addicts over many years, with a high percentage of their current clients being heroin addicts from all over the country.
"The decision to actively pursue treatment is a huge one for these young people," says CEO Kirsten Wallace. "We have proven programs in place that will give them every opportunity to overcome their addictions and live productive and healthy lives."
CRLA founder Chris Bathum adds, "We wholly support anyone who helps tell the terrible story of addiction, and what people go through every day with this disease. We applaud HBO, director Steven Okazaki and the entire crew for telling this vital story. We hope it gains the mainstream attention it deserves."
Denise D. Poisson -MS MFT, LPCC, LMHC, a CRLA therapist adds - "Unlike any other treatment facility, CRLA not only addresses the unique needs of the addict, but recognizes the needs of the family as well. Our dedicated community provides ongoing support to family members as they begin their own healing process."
CRLA is also the subject of a documentary about addiction and recovery, titled "Loaded", expected in theatres in 2016.
