Inaugural Pet Technology Conference Focuses on Positive Animal Training
INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Nowadays, pet owners and professionals are turning to more positive approaches in animal training. For the first time ever, animal owners, trainers and technology innovators have the opportunity to experience and learn about inventive uses of technology that promote positive animal behaviors at the Pet Technology Conference on Nov. 8 or 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, 901 Ames Ave., Milpitas, Calif.
"In the next couple of years, you're going to see a significant increase in the product offerings in the pet industry that are leveraging these new technologies," says Dr. David Roberts, conference speaker and assistant professor of computer science at North Carolina State University. "These types of products are really going to increase our bonds with our companions, as well as help us communicate and understand them and improve our relationships with them."
In addition to Dr. Roberts, industry experts Jean Donaldson, founder and director of The Academy for Dog Trainers; Malena DeMartini-Price, author of "Treating Separation Anxiety in Dogs" and ethologist and behaviorist Jennifer Cattet, Ph.D, are scheduled to speak on how to integrate technology into training to:
- Teach hands-on training techniques, virtually.
- Address separation anxiety in pets.
- Find smart solutions for behavioral or crate training
- Help emergency response workers and search-and-rescue dogs communicate effectively through the use of special computerized dog vests, so dogs can perform their tasks efficiently and safely in dangerous situations.
- Give pet owners helpful feedback so they can learn training techniques more precisely.
Each one-day, duplicate session includes a speakers' panel addressing audience questions, roundtables, technology announcements, demonstrations, opportunity for networking between innovators and training professionals and giveaways.
The cost to attend the Pet Technology Conference is $125. Lunch and refreshments are included. For more information and to register, visit http://pettutor.biz/pettech.
