Industry Veteran Major General Elder Granger Joins the Recondo Technology Board of Directors

Elder Granger, MD, has joined the Recondo Board of Directors. MG Granger comes to Recondo after 37 years of military service, including serving as Deputy Director and Program Executive Officer of the TRICARE Management Activity, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs), Washington, DC.
TRICARE is the healthcare program serving more than 9.4 million uniformed service members, retirees, and their families worldwide. At TRICARE, Major General Granger served as principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) on Department of Defense (DoD) health plan policy and performance. He oversaw the acquisition, operation, and integration of the DoD managed care program within the Military Health System, and led a staff of 1,800 in planning, budgeting, and executing a $22.5 billion Defense Health Program.
While at TRICARE, MG Granger worked with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), providing data from the US Military Health System to help the FDA make decisions affecting the safety and use of FDA-regulated products for all Americans. As a result, the FDA and the Department of Defense formed a partnership to share data and expertise related to the review and use of FDA-regulated drugs, biologics, and medical devices. He has deep data analytics experience relating to claim data.
MG Granger is currently the President and CEO of The 5Ps, a healthcare, education, and leadership consulting organization. The 5Ps services are focused on providing strategy and portfolio analysis, insights and trends on directions that are transforming healthcare today, insights and best practices for military healthcare, leadership principles, and peer-to-peer guidance. Prior to TRICARE, MG Granger led the largest US and multi-national battlefield health system in our recent history while serving as Commander, Task Force 44th Medical Command and Command Surgeon for the Multinational Corps Iraq. He has led at every level of the Army Medical Department, with previous assignments as Commander, 44th Medical Command; XVIII Airborne Corps Command Surgeon; Director of Health Services, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Commander, Europe Regional Medical Command; Director TRICARE Europe; and Command Surgeon, US Army Europe and 7th Army, Heidelberg, Germany; Acting Assistant Surgeon General for Force Projection; Commander, Army Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany; and Commander, Ireland Army Community Hospital, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

MG Granger earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Arkansas State University in 1976. A Distinguished Military Graduate, he was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Upon graduation from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1980, he was awarded the Henry Kaiser Medical Fellowship for Medical Excellence and Leadership. MG Granger completed a residency in Internal Medicine in 1983 and a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology in 1986 at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. His Military education includes the Army War College, Army Command and General Staff College, Army Medical Department Officer Advanced and Basic Courses, Military Health System and Army CAPSTONE Courses, and Combat Casualty Care Course.
