Infineta's WAN Optimization Offering Beats Out Competing Solutions To Help Customer Accelerate Critical Data Migration Project
mBlox Selects Infineta's Flexible, Pay-as-You-Go DMA Service to Complete Data Migration In Record Time While Bypassing Costly Capital Expenditures
SAN JOSE, Calif., May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Infineta Systems, the first and only provider of WAN optimization solutions for Big Traffic workflows, today announced that its first-of-a-kind Data Migration Accelerator (DMA) WAN optimization service enabled mBlox to significantly accelerate a critical data migration project that would have otherwise been at risk of encountering major bottlenecks. mBlox, a global mobile interaction and payment specialist, utilized Infineta's DMA service to cut its data transfer time by more than 3X without incurring any capital expenditures to upgrade its existing WAN infrastructure. The DMA offering also enabled mBlox to reduce their migration data footprint by over 70%.
"We realized early on that we needed a WAN optimization solution to speed up migration of all data to our resilient data center and eliminate potential traffic bottlenecks that could harm our business," stated Robin Farrell, Head of Network Management-EMEA at mBlox. "We found Infineta's DMA service option extremely attractive because it not only satisfied our throughput demands and eliminated WAN-related capital expenditures, but it also provided the short-term flexibility and quick implementation we needed for migration of data that will only grow in size as time passes."
"We're really pleased to be working with mBlox, whose selection of Infineta validates the strength of our core WAN optimization technology," said Raj Kanaya, Infineta Co-Founder and CEO. "Their use of our DMA service demonstrates its major appeal to companies with short-term projects that nonetheless require high-performance WAN optimization. Once companies realize the performance boost they can achieve with our DMA service, it's not uncommon for them to end up purchasing our underlying WAN optimization product."
mBlox evaluated solutions from a number of WAN optimization vendors to migrate the company's critical database instance to a new data center. Following the initial synchronization, the application of incremental and re-do logs for the database could have become a major bottleneck absent a high-throughput WAN optimization solution. By selecting Infineta's DMA service, mBlox not only completed the entire migration in a significantly shorter timeframe, but was also able to eliminate the need to incur expensive upgrades to its WAN bandwidth. Infineta's DMA enabled mBlox to complete its migration quickly and efficiently to minimize potential operational disruptions and application downtime.
Introduced in October of last year, Infineta's DMA is a pay-as-you-go WAN optimization service offering built around the company's flagship Data Mobility Switch (DMS) solution. The service helps enterprises cut migration project times by 80% or more, resulting in reduced overall project costs and increased business agility — without requiring any capital expenditures or long-term financial commitments. Like the company's flagship DMS product, Infineta's DMA service accelerates traffic over WAN links at up to 10 Gbps rates, while expanding WAN capacity by 5-10X and guaranteeing network capacity for critical inter-data center traffic flows.
